Evangelism Pastor (Minister of Religion)

Responsible to: Local Pastor

Job Purpose

The Evangelist/Minister of Religion will provide spiritual leadership, pastoral care, and evangelistic outreach in line with Pentecostal Christian doctrine. The post holder will proclaim the gospel, lead worship and prayer, disciple members, and expand the church’s outreach within the wider community, particularly among African and Afro-Caribbean groups.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Preach, teach Bible studies, and lead Pentecostal worship services, including prayer meetings, altar calls, and outreach programmes.
• Perform ordinances such as baptisms, baby dedications, Communion, weddings, and funerals.
• Lead evangelism and community outreach activities to spread the gospel.
• Lead prayer meetings, fasting, and intercession for the church and community.
• Provide pastoral care, counselling, and discipleship for members, especially young adults and new believers.
• Mentor and disciple prayer and outreach ministers and lay leaders within the church.
• Support the local pastor in ministerial assignments and spiritual vision.
• Engage with African and Afro-Caribbean communities while also reaching the wider public.


Person Specification
Essential Requirements
• A committed Christian with a clear calling to full-time Pentecostal ministry.
• Degree-level qualification.
• At least 1 year of proven experience in evangelism or pastoral ministry.
• Ordained or recognised as a minister with authority to preach and teach within the Pentecostal tradition.
• Sound knowledge of the Bible and Pentecostal theology.
• Proven preaching, teaching, and exegetical skills.
• Experience of ministering effectively within African and Afro-Caribbean communities.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and mentoring skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in ministry.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and irregular hours as required.
• Must undergo a DBS check and safeguarding training.

Desirable Requirements
• Previous experience in a similar pastoral or evangelistic role.
• Recognisable gifting in teaching and discipleship.
• Demonstrated ability to lead effective outreach strategies.

Terms and Conditions
• Salary: £21000 - 22,500
• Contract: Permanent
• Hours: 35 hours per week
• Probation: 6 months
• Leave entitlement: 25 Days
• Other benefits: Pension
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, Weekend availability
• Ability to commute/relocate: Cardiff: Reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required).
