Pay rate: Up to £71.43 per hour PAYE
Contract Type: Temporary, Anticipated 6 months

In order to apply for this role you will have a minimum of three years’ recent experience operating at Deputy Chief Accountant level within a local government setting along with an Accountancy Qualification, (e.g. CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA, ICAEW).
The role:
On behalf of a local council, we are seeking a Senior Financial Reporting Manager who is a highly experienced finance professional with a minimum of three years’ recent experience operating at Deputy Chief Accountant level within a local government setting.
The ideal candidate will have a demonstrable track record in leading the end-to-end production of statutory accounts and managing all aspects of the Collection Fund. Proven expertise in navigating complex financial environments, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, and delivering high-quality financial reporting is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Leading the completion and external audit of the Council’s Statement of Accounts, ensuring full compliance with statutory requirements and professional standards.
Initiate and oversee preparations for the 2025/26 year-end closure process, including the implementation of robust in-year reconciliation procedures.
Driving the automation and digitisation of statutory financial returns through optimal use of the Council’s financial systems, with a focus on improving efficiency, accuracy, and audit readiness.
What the client is looking for:
A minimum of three years’ recent experience operating at Deputy Chief Accountant level within a local government setting
An Accountancy Qualification, ( CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA, ICAEW), or part qualified and equivalent experience
A track record in leading the end-to-end production of statutory accounts
Experience in managing all aspects of a local authority Collection Fund
Proven expertise in navigating complex financial environments, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation
Able to deliver high-quality financial reporting is essential
Ability to lead the completion and external audit of the Council’s 2024/25 Statement of Accounts, ensuring full compliance with statutory requirements and professional standards
Experience in overseeing the preparations of year-end closure process, including the implementation of robust in-year reconciliation procedures
