Job Description

A full-time permanent opportunity has arisen for an experienced qualified social worker to undertake the role of Senior Practitioner with the North Community Mental Health Social Work Team.

We provide a professional social work service to adults in Aberdeenshire, by undertaking a full range of social work duties and working collaboratively with clients who have complex needs to formulate support plans that maximise abilities, enable individuals to make choices and to work towards their identified goals, whilst identifying and minimising vulnerability and risks. Working in partnership with families and carers, relevant professionals, other agencies, and the wider community whilst adhering to all applicable legislation and Aberdeenshire Council policies and procedures, including both statutory and non-statutory requirements.

Social Workers who have an existing Mental Health Officer Qualification are welcome to apply. If the successful candidate has a Mental Health Officer qualification you will undertake all required Mental Health Officer duties, including completing Mental Health Officer Assessments, preparing applications, and completing reports, attending court and Mental Health Tribunals, along with providing advice and guidance to practitioners arising from the relevant legislation, associated codes of practice and local procedures. There will be a requirement to participate in the Community, Hospital and Out of Hours Emergency Service rotas. Please see attached Mental Health Officer Job Profile. If the preferred Candidate does not hold a Mental Health Officer qualification, there may be an opportunity to undertake Mental Health Officer training.

The post holder will cover all the team’s catchment area within North Aberdeenshire and as such some travel is expected.

To provide a high quality mental health social work and care management outcome focused service as a member of an integrated community team whilst promoting and facilitating a responsive integrated MHO Service approach by working to the SSSC Code of Practice and National Standards;

There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.

Requirements

This post is regulated work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

This post will require you to have obtained SSSC registration within 3 months of employment.

This post has a minimum requirement of two references, one of these must be your current or most recent employer.
