North Lanarkshire Council is the largest social landlord in Scotland with 36,000 tenants. This post sits within the finance function providing support to the Housing service.
You will be directly responsible to the Income Officer. You will perform a key role in administering the Direct Debit function and be heavily involved in ensuring that all other forms of payment are accurately and timeously posted to tenants’ accounts. This will include assisting in the reconciliation of income between the rent accounting system and the bank account. You will ensure that the Rent System database is kept up-to-date and accurate and produce regular management reports.
You will be a confident, enthusiastic, and self-motivated individual with a positive disposition. You will be required to display initiative and work well within a team environment.
In undertaking these tasks, you will be a key member of the team ensuring compliance with the council’s financial regulations and schemes of financial delegation. You will, therefore, require a minimum of two years practical experience within a finance environment and be able to evidence numeracy, communication, and good interpersonal skills as daily interaction with tenants over the phone is key task. Additionally, the key duties of the post require sound knowledge and practical experience of using spreadsheets, along with the ability to organise work effectively to meet deadlines.
You must be educated to higher level as a minimum. Experience of HSMS – Housing Rent Accounting system, Direct Debit and BACS processes and knowledge of other finance related systems such as general ledger or debtors are desirable. Possession of ECDL or an HNC/SVQ Level 3 or equivalent relevant qualification is also desirable.
The post will follow the hybrid model of home-working and office-based work in the Civic Centre, Motherwell.
Working Pattern:
Position 1 (Permanent): Monday - Thursday, 08:45am - 16:45pm, Friday, 08:45am - 16:15pm = 35 Hours.
Position 2 (Temporary until 31/03/2027): Monday - Thursday, 08:45am - 16:45pm, Friday, 08:45am - 16:15pm = 35 hours.
Position 3 (Temporary until 30/09/2026): Wednesday, 12:45pm - 16:45pm, Thursday 08:45am - 16:45pm, Friday, 08:45am - 16:15pm = 17.5 hours.
