Crynodeb

The Fellow will be expected to take part in the on-call rota Clinic and operating theatres times may vary depending on availability and opportunities exist to join other surgeons in theatre and/or clinic to maximise experience of knee and shoulder arthroscopy. Teaching The post holder will be encouraged to participate in post-graduate medical education as well as the teaching of medical students. Research The post holder will be encouraged to undertake research, collaborative research projects and research relevant to the delivery of the clinical service as outlined above and agreed with the Director of Research. Audit The post holder will be expected to play an active role in the Hospitals clinical audit programme in accordance with criteria set by the Trust and by the Royal College of Surgeons. Continuing Medical Education The post holder will be expected to undertake continuing Medical Education along the lines recommended by the Royal College of Surgeons. This will involve participation in internal meetings and external CME by arrangement with the Medical Director. Equality and Dignity The post holder will be expected to adhere strictly to principles of fairness and equality in carrying out the role. At all times the post holder will be required to show respect to and maintain the dignity of patients, the public and work colleagues. The Trust will not tolerate any form of bullying or harassment, violence or aggression against its employees. Arrangements should be made to ensure that local and Trust wide matters are communicated and discussed via appropriate means i.e. team meetings, written briefings etc. The post holder has a duty to attend these team meetings. Induction It is the responsibility of every employee to participate fully in induction in both Trusts. A Trust wide induction course is held monthly and an induction pack is available from the Human Resources Department. A formal induction to the unit will be arranged by the Clinical Director/Clinical Lead and a Consultant mentor will be appointed. This will be in addition to the development programme addressing governance and leadership in the Trust. Appraisal and Performance Management All staff will be expected to fully participate in the Appraisal/Performance Management process. This obligation will include the preparation for and attendance at appraisal/performance management interviews and completion of the associated documentation.
