Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities Direct Patient Care Provide high-quality, compassionate, and evidence-based care to patients, prioritising their health and wellbeing. Perform clinical observations (e.g., blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respirations) and escalate concerns appropriately. Provide wound care and dressing management, including Doppler assessments and care for ulcers. Administer flu vaccinations, ECGs, venepuncture, and other clinical tasks, following appropriate training and within the scope of practice. Support patients with long-term conditions, mental health needs, dementia, and learning disabilities, ensuring holistic care. Deliver NHS Health Checks and promote self-management strategies for patients. Health Promotion and Education Provide health education to individuals and groups, promoting healthy lifestyles and self-care strategies. Offer advice and signposting to local support services, social prescribing colleagues, and voluntary organisations. Participate in public health campaigns such as flu clinics and smoking cessation initiatives. Support During Procedures Assist in minor operations and clinical procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort. Chaperone patients during clinical examinations as required. Care Integration Work across health and social care settings, including primary and secondary care, to ensure integrated service delivery. Liaise with multidisciplinary team (MDT) members to ensure continuity of care and effective patient outcomes. Professional Responsibilities Record Keeping Maintain accurate, detailed, and timely records of patient care using clinical IT systems (e.g., SNOMED codes). Process and action pathology results as required. Clinical Governance Adhere to clinical governance standards, contributing to investigations, serious incident reviews, and audits to improve service quality. Participate in reflective practice, clinical supervision, and continuous professional development. Supervision and Mentorship Provide support, supervision, and mentorship to trainee nursing associates, healthcare assistants, apprentices, and students. Act as a role model, demonstrating best practices and fostering a culture of learning within the team. Quality and Improvement Actively participate in service improvement initiatives such as QOF, QIPP, and other cost-effectiveness schemes. Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute ideas to enhance patient care and organisational efficiency. Organisational Responsibilities Team Collaboration Work as an effective member of the MDT, supporting colleagues and contributing to a positive workplace culture. Communicate effectively with patients, carers, and team members to ensure shared understanding of care plans. Safety and Risk Management Follow all health and safety protocols, ensuring safe practice in clinical and non-clinical settings. Identify and report risks, incidents, or hazards to the appropriate manager. Confidentiality Uphold the organisations commitment to maintaining confidentiality, ensuring sensitive patient information is handled appropriately and securely. Policy Compliance Adhere to organisational policies and procedures, including safeguarding, infection control, and information governance. Maintain awareness of national guidelines, such as those from NICE, NMC, and other regulatory bodies.
