Job Description

KNOWLEDGE

Essential:

  • A degree level qualification in relevant discipline including social work, community education or other relevant degree
  • Experience of managing a team delivering a professional service to identified client groups.
  • Demonstrated subject matter knowledge
  • Experience in resettlement work, NRPF, anti-destitution or working with marginalised groups.
  • Experience in developing a partnership approach to service delivery.
  • Proven ability to deliver a range of strategies, policies and projects to set deadlines
  • Experience writing and presenting data, information and reports to different audiences including partners and members of the public
  • Commitment to and evidence of continuing professional development.

Desirable:

  • Experience of managing a team delivering supports to resettled people
  • Understanding of the Scottish political, policy and legislative landscape including national requirements in relation to equalities, community empowerment and planning and performance and the likely impact on local government and partners.
  • Experience in developing NRPF strategies
  • Project management experience.
  • Deliver workshops and training sessions to a range of partners.

Whereas a drivers licence is not an essential requirement for the role, the ability to drive may help the jobholder in their day to day activities.

Requirements

Position Title: Children and Families Team Leader - Resettlement Lead

Directorate: Children, Young People and Partnerships

Location: Fairfield House

Contract Status: Fixed Term for 2 years

Hours of Work: 36 hours per week

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday 09:00-17:00

Weeks per year: 52

Please note that it is Midlothian Councils policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale.

Based on 36 hours over 52 weeks per year, the minimum actual salary for this position is £54,475.92 per annum.

Responsibilities

This post is considered Regulated Work with Protected Adults and Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with protected adults and children. Successful candidates will require PVG Scheme membership for Regulated Work with Protected Adults and Children. You will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment with Midlothian Council, the cost of which will be met by you.
