About the Employer

I am the employer and mother to my 19 year old daughter who has complex behavioural issues when suffering a crisis episode associated with her mental health and autism that requires her to have 2-1 support at all times . She has diagnosis of Autism, Learning disability and suffers with mental health, so any candidate applying would need to have experience and knowledge of the characteristics associated and an understanding of the impact this can have on the individual and those providing care. I am seeking 2 Personal assistants who will work closely together and provide care within the home and social outings for my daughter. She is extremely vulnerable and is unable to assess risk to herself or others. She has limited communication and will speak on occasion if she is in the right frame of mind or mood, however this can be limited. There are no known triggers but she can suffer crisis episodes at any given time and without warning. When this occurs, she may lash out at others or harm herself. Training will be provided to any staff who are successful via the Mental Health Team, to equip them with the recommended techniques in managing this and ways of redirecting her attention. My daughter requires all personal care, support with bathing, toileting and dressings. The PA's will be responsible for preparing meals and supporting with personal hygiene. My daughter enjoys shopping in charity shops, going to the beach and being outdoors during social times The successful PA's will be required to provide 1 overnight support of 24 hrs each month within our home, allowing me a break from my caring role and ensuring continuity for her to remain in the family residence. I require a personal assistants who can assist my daughter with the following: • administering medication • all aspects of personal care including bathing, showering and assisting with changing clothes • cooking, preparation of meals and drinks • escorting to appointments • escorting and supporting my daughter to access social activities providing companionship • liaising with other people/professionals • delivering support based on the tasks associated to different shifts, including the overnight stays • working as part of a team Mandatory training will be provided w The needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required. I am looking to recruit personal assistants with experience and an interest in working as part of a team and becoming an integral part of my daughter’s day to day life. You will be expected to deliver all aspects of care set out within the care plan and assist her in achieving a fulfilling and meaning life. The ideal candidates would need to demonstrate skills sets such as resilience, team working and flexibility, have a good sense of humour and an outgoing personality. Good communication skills are essential. Full driving license is essential as the role requires you to drive the employer’s vehicle, for insurances purposes you must be a minimum age of 21. Due to the nature of the work for which you are applying, this post is subject to a satisfactory DBS disclosure (costs will be covered). Mandatory Training and Development Program included

About the Role

Duties and Responsibilities

• Support and/or prompt with personal care. This may include toileting, showering/bathing, getting in and out of bed, getting dressed.
• Support and/or prompt with cooking/meal preparation and eating meals/drinks.
• Support and/or prompt the individual to take medication.
• Support and/or prompt to attend appointments as necessary, e.g. hospital/doctors.
• Support and/or prompt the individual to access sporting and leisure activities.
• Assist and encourage socialisation, participating in activities.
• Promote and encourage friendships and independence.
• Develop a good and trusting one to one working relationship.

Due to the following requirements of the role, only candidates aged 18 or over should apply for this position:

• You will be required to administer medication.
• You will be required to work for more than 48 hours per week.
• Shifts may start before and or after 10pm

The individuals needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.

You have a responsibility as an employee to report all accidents to the employer immediately. You have a duty to report defects and / or hazards which may give rise to an accident. You are to ensure the safety of the individual at all times.

Transport Requirement

Car driver preferred but not essential.

Specific days/times required:

• Tuesday, 5pm-9pm
• Wednesday, 5pm-9pm
• Saturday 10am-4pm
