Are you looking to take your skills to the next level within a supportive team and state-of-the-art facilities? This could be the role for you.

The Practice

This is a progressive, independent small animal practice with a strong reputation for delivering outstanding clinical care. The 9-vet team includes multiple certificate holders across medicine, cardiology, and surgery, and the practice also provides a small referral service to surrounding clinics. A visiting CT and MRI scanner enhances in-house advanced imaging, ensuring a wide and exciting caseload.

The purpose-built, refurbished premises feature excellent facilities in a green and spacious setting. These include two theatres equipped with advanced surgical technology for orthopaedics and laparoscopy, separate cat and dog wards (including a dedicated cat waiting area), and a comprehensive imaging suite offering ultrasonography, echocardiography, endoscopy, rhinoscopy, bronchoscopy, and digital/dental radiography.

The Role

An opportunity has arisen for a Veterinary Surgeon to join this well-established team. The role offers a varied caseload with opportunities to work up cases to a high standard, while enjoying genuine clinical freedom. Collaboration is strongly encouraged, with senior colleagues on hand for case discussions and support.

For those wishing to develop a clinical interest, full backing is provided, and certificates are both supported and funded. The practice already accepts referrals in several disciplines and is keen to expand further, making this a fantastic opportunity for vets with specialist aspirations – a great fit for someone with an interest in ophthalmology, internal medicine or dermatology.

The Rota

• Full-time vets work a 4-day week
• Equal share of operating and consulting shifts, ensuring balanced caseload and surgical exposure
• 1:6 on-call rota with RVN support and senior vet backup if needed
• Saturday morning consults on rota only (no additional Saturdays)
• Admin time built into the day, with proper lunch breaks and punctual finishes

Location

Based in an attractive market town, the practice is well connected by road and rail, with easy access to Birmingham, Manchester, and London. The surrounding countryside offers fantastic leisure opportunities, including Cannock Chase and the Peak District within reach.

Benefits

• Salary: £35,000 for new graduates up to £75,000 for advanced practitioners
• Five weeks’ holiday plus bank holidays
• Certificates fully supported and funded
• CPD allowance with career development actively encouraged
• Subscriptions paid (BSAVA, BVA, ISFM, VCOT)
• Professional fees covered
• AXA private healthcare
