Commercial Governance and Corporate Energy is a recently formed team, bringing together officers from Energy Management Unit and Commercial Governance. The team is part of the Financial Management Service and is led by the Assistant Director: Commercial Governance and Corporate Energy.

The Corporate Energy Officer post will be involved with a number of key energy related activities including the procurement of energy supplies, verification and validation of energy consumption, processing energy invoices, maintaining and reviewing Manchester City and Bolton Council’s energy portfolio and that Service Level Agreement obligations are met with Manchester and Bolton schools.

You'll also play a part in the delivery of the Council’s 2038 Zero Carbon ambitions by supporting the monitoring and tracking of interventions, as well as having an input into the review of new schemes that are going to be delivered across the Council estate to reduce carbon footprint.

Development of strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders whilst ensuring strong governance and best practice requirements is an essential part of the day-to-day duties of the post.

About the Candidate

We are looking for a person who has the drive and the determination to ensure that Manchester City Council corporate energy activities run smoothly and are seen as an exemplar of best practice.
Candidates should demonstrate the following through their application:
- Experience of working in an energy setting and ensuring effective energy management, delivering best value for Manchester City Council and partners who are contracted through Service Level Agreements.
- Ability to review and interpret large sets of data and provide commentary to internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and working flexibly to react to changing deadlines and situations.
- Work effectively and manage interdependencies with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Be a strong team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to influence and learn from others.
