Do you want hands-on experience supporting pupils with additional needs before teacher training? Could you provide calm, consistent 1:1 support that helps a Year 9 pupil with autism and ADHD access learning?

*** 1:1 support for a Year 9 pupil with autism and ADHD
The Role:
You’ll offer daily 1:1 support to a Year 9 pupil, helping them follow routines, stay engaged in lessons, and build independence. You’ll adapt tasks, use visual prompts, scaffold transitions, and record simple progress notes. You’ll liaise with teachers, the SENCO, and parents to keep strategies consistent.
The Candidate:
You communicate clearly, stay patient under pressure, and build trust quickly. You follow support plans, keep boundaries firm but fair, and focus on small, measurable wins. You’re organised, reflective, and motivated to remove barriers to learning.
Requirements
• Degree – A 2:2 or above in any subject.
• Communication – Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
• Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
• Desire to work in education/with children – Genuine interest in SEN, behaviour support, and pupil wellbeing.
• Experience working with children – Any relevant experience (SEN support, mentoring, tutoring, volunteering) is desirable but not essential.

This ‘Good’ secondary in Sandwell has strong inclusion systems and clear routines. You’ll join a supportive SEN team with practical guidance, shared resources, and regular check-ins to help you make impact quickly.
