Are you looking to kick start a career in sustainability?

Reporting to our Head of Sustainability and Inclusion, we are recruiting for a Sustainability Coordinator to join our Sustainability and Social Value team, based in Hoddesdon, to support the delivery of the VolkerWessels UK Sustainability framework, People-Planet-Purpose. You may be looking for an apprenticeship in CSR, a career change or are already in a sustainability role but looking for something new.   • Provide support and advice to the VolkerWessels UK group of businesses that enables the collective success of the VWUK People-Planet-Purpose sustainability framework, carbon reduction strategy, social value strategy and other related delivery strategies, action plans and commitments (internal and external).
  • Support with relevant reporting to demonstrate compliance with sustainability related strategies.
  • Support with sustainability data collation, reporting and analysis, including the calculation, analysis and reporting of the VolkerWessels UK scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon emissions, in line with internal and external reporting requirements, and social value reporting.
  • Use of Thrive social value, education, volunteering and carbon portals, including providing support to sites / projects.
  • Working with Business Unit representatives to help support current and new client sustainability requirements.
  • Provide support to work winning teams, as required.
  • Assist in researching emerging themes around the sustainability, social value and carbon agendas.

About you

  • First and foremost, we're looking for someone with a passion for sustainability and a willingness to learn. We are open to accepting applications from people who are either early in their career looking to start a CSR apprenticeship, or people who may be looking for a change of career and willing to learn on the job.
  • You will need to be a team player, someone who is open to new experiences, and is passionate about bringing sustainability to life.
  • You will have excellent organisational and communication skills, have a commitment to achieving results and ability to self-motivate.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite will be beneficial, although this can be taught on the job.
  • Ideally, you'll hold a full UK driver's license. Please note the role is based on site at our Hoddesdon HQ, with ad-hoc travel to our sites across the UK.
