Join the Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership and Make a Real Impact!
We are seeking a Trust Relief Chef Manager to join the Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership—a large and dynamic multi-academy trust comprising 37 schools, including 18 primary, 13 secondary, and 6 special schools. While the trust is predominantly based in the Midsomer Norton and Radstock area, it also extends to Bath, Bristol, Yeovil, Castle Cary, Glastonbury, and Frome.
In this exciting and varied role, you’ll be responsible for preparing and cooking healthy, nutritious meals across the trust, stepping in to lead kitchen operations when Chef Managers are absent. You will also help shape and implement a trust-wide catering strategy that meets the standards of the ‘Food for Life Partnership Scheme’, while supporting catering teams to consistently deliver high-quality food, maintain safety standards, and provide excellent service.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
Step in and cover when Chef Managers are absent across all schools in the trust.
Travel across the trust (mileage paid) to deliver services at multiple school sites. Must have a driving license.
Prepare, cook and serve a wide variety of nutritionally balanced dishes.
Assist with the development and implementation of a catering strategy to meet the 'Food for Life Partnership Scheme' standards.
Contribute to the training and development of catering staff to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
Manage daily health and safety tasks, ensuring compliance with COSHH and HACCP regulations.
Work within statutory guidelines and manage the trust’s catering budget.
Assist with menu planning, portion control and nutritional analysis, including catering for special dietary needs.
Maintain accurate stock levels, ensuring supplies are rotated and recorded.
Support cashless catering systems and take appropriate readings at the end of service.
Complete monthly stock takes and manage food orders with nominated suppliers in line with budget control.
There are many advantages to working for us including generous annual leave entitlement, access to a local government pension scheme, sick pay scheme, cycle-to-work scheme, free eye tests and employee assistance helpline. You also have access to an employee benefits platform which offers savings on everyday essentials to special offers on travel, dining, and entertainment.
We encourage early applications as we reserve the right to close the vacancy prior to the closing date if we receive sufficient applications for the role.
