We are working with a well-established main contractor that has built a strong reputation delivering projects across commercial, education, residential and public sector schemes. With a healthy pipeline of work and a collaborative culture, they are now looking for an Assistant Design Manager to join their team.

Role:

You will be supporting the team to drive quality outcomes, enhance build ability and foster innovation. Assistant Design Managers work collaboratively with our Design Managers/Senior Design Managers and in-house technical experts to ensure that the design develops in accordance with the brief with a firm focus on compliance, programme certainty, and best practice.

As our Assistant Design Manager, you will:

  • Work with the Design Manager to produce and manage the design programme and Information Required Schedule
  • Provide guidance to the Project team on design related issues
  • Coordinate project team comments, and resolve any design related construction queries with the design team

About the Company/Client/Project:

The role is with the regional office of this busy main contractor covering the Surrey & Hampshire areas, M3 and M4 corridor and south coast areas. The regional business turns over more than £80m, with zero debt and a positive cash position.

Scope of works includes the residential sector with projects ranging in value from £15m to £45m in value; Workload is secured for the next 3 years with a mixture of competitive tenders, negotiated schemes for repeat clients, and frameworks.

Requirements including certificates and qualifications:

Either from an Engineering/Construction delivery or Architectural background, you will possess excellent technical and commercial knowledge, a keen understanding of construction methodology, materials and systems, procurement lead in times, etc.

You will have excellent communication and negotiations skills, strong planning and problem-solving ability, initiative and a positive approach. In terms of character, you will be a highly driven, positive and ambitious individual able to work well within a large team dynamic.

You will ideally have a proven track record of successful project delivery with a recognised Main Contractor in a Design Coordination / Design Management role.
