HR Employee Relations & Policy ManagerLocation: LiverpoolHybrid working, 3 days per week on siteFull-time, PermanentSalary: £39,906 - £46,049 Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) is an internationally recognised centre of excellence for teaching and research in tropical diseases. Through close partnerships with governments, global institutions, non-profit and private organisations and we aim to promote improved health, particularly for people in the least developed countries in the tropics and sub-tropics. We are looking for someone to join our People Services team, to provide advice and guidance to Line Managers and staff on a range of people related matters, from basic cases through to more complex situations. The role will have specific responsibility for employee relations cases, policy and procedures development, while also leading on wellbeing initiatives and using workforce data to inform decision-making. This is a pivotal role ensuring our workplace remains fair, inclusive, and compliant. Responsibilities include: Managing core ER processes including disciplinary, grievance, performance, redundancy, and moreProviding expert advice to managers and staff on employment legislation, policies, and best practiceResponsible for policy creation, review, and implementation to ensure compliance and clarityWhere appropriate, leading on complex ER cases, ensuring timely, fair, and effective resolutionSupporting UKVI compliance and advising on visas and immigration mattersChampioning wellbeing initiatives and contributing to our Welfare StrategyAnalysing HR data and case trends to recommend proactive interventions The ideal candidate will bring: MCIPD or equivalent professional qualificationExtensive knowledge of UK employment and equality legislationProven experience in managing complex ER casesStrong communication, influencing, and relationship-building skillsAbility to analyse HR data, draw insights, and make evidence-based recommendationsFlexible, pragmatic, and able to work under pressure to meet multiple deadlines Previous experience within a higher education setting would be advantageous, but is not essential.
