We have an exciting opportunity for a Sweeper Driver (3.5 tonne - 7.5 tonne) to join the Norwich City Services Limited (NCSL) team. If you are able to drive, a team player, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, we would love to hear from you.
About the role?
This role involves operating compact sweepers and vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes as part of a street cleansing team dedicated to maintaining and improving city standards. Responsibilities include waste collection and disposal, site visits, high-quality cleaning, and assisting with manoeuvring and other operational tasks. The post holder must perform vehicle checks, use the VRC App for pre-use inspections, and ensure equipment is cleaned and maintained. Health and safety compliance, accurate paperwork, and effective teamwork are essential, alongside customer care and communication with supervisors. Flexibility is required for additional duties, including potential cover on 18-tonne sweepers with extra pay, and ongoing training to meet fleet licence requirements.
The ideal candidate holds a full UK driving licence with at least Category C1 and Category C entitlement, along with a valid Driver CPC card. They bring hands-on experience operating mechanical and street sweepers, possess strong local geographical knowledge, and demonstrate sound understanding of Health & Safety practices. With basic literacy and numeracy skills, they are dependable, detail-oriented, and capable of working both independently and within a team. The role demands physical capability for manual handling, flexibility to adapt to operational needs, and the ability to perform under pressure. Strong communication skills, reliability, and enthusiasm are essential attributes.
