Quality Lead

We’re looking for a passionate and proactive Quality Lead to join our team, reporting to the SSHEQ Manager and working from our Gravesend office. This is a full-time, permanent role, Monday to Friday 8:30am–5:30pm, with flexibility where needed to support production or resolve urgent quality matters. There may also be the opportunity to travel to suppliers, customers and external laboratories.

The Quality Lead is responsible for leading the quality assurance function within our lubricants manufacturing plant, ensuring we meet international standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements. The role requires the day-to-day management and ongoing development of the quality system, and champions continuous improvement initiatives. With a strong focus on product performance, reliability, and compliance, the Quality Lead plays a vital part in delivering excellence for both the Company and our customers.

Responsibilities as our Quality Lead are to:


Manage and continuously review quality systems to ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015, company standards, customer requirements, and, in conjunction with key stakeholders, ExxonMobil Quality Systems.
Conduct internal quality audits and support external audits, including regulatory, certification, and customer assessments.
Support the improvement and development of quality test methods and procedures, to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Participate in third-party supplier assessments and oversee new supplier approvals.
Manage Weights and Measures activities in line with legal and internal standards.
Maintain packaging data to meet Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) obligations.
Lead investigations into product non-conformities, customer complaints, and process deviations.
Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) in collaboration with production and relevant teams.
Identify opportunities to optimize formulations, reduce waste, and enhance product consistency.
Communicate effectively with other functional areas to support quality initiatives.
Provide oversight of quality certifications and quality-related events/incidents in other European markets where Moove operates and distributes, in addition to primary focus on UK operations.


Essential Skills Required:


A bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related field, or practical experience in a quality or laboratory environment
Proven experience with ISO management systems, audits, and regulatory compliance
Experience of working within a quality role
Working with honesty and integrity
Strong and clear communication skills
Able to work on own initiative
Able to work under pressure
Innovative and flexible
Strong problem-solving skills
Change agent and active challenger to drive cost and efficiency improvements




Desirable Skills:


Knowledge of lubricant properties, additive chemistry and international quality standard
Quality related qualification
Line management experience
IQA Membership
Lead auditor training
Additional language, with Portuguese, French and Spanish highly desirable
