Work closely with subject teachers, the SENCo and external professionals to create and implement individual education plans (IEPs).
Adapt lesson materials and strategies to ensure inclusive access to the curriculum.
Promote students’ social, emotional and behavioural development, encouraging independence and confidence.
Monitor and record progress, sharing updates with staff and parents/carers.
Ideal Special Needs Specialist:
Demonstrated experience supporting young people with SEN (e.g. ASD, ADHD, SEMH) in a secondary school or similar environment.
Strong understanding of inclusive practices and current SEN approaches.
