You will be required to carry out duties appropriate to the grade and purpose of the role including, but not limited to, the following:
Leadership
- Line manage and develop a team to implement agency-wide master data governance policies and standards.
- Drive and develop a comprehensive data catalogue for the APHA.
- Role model and embed cultural change, promoting diversity, inclusion, and equality of opportunity, while implementing new ways of working that maximise the use of data across the agency.
Operational Delivery
- Define and manage data catalogue strategies, policies, and the full lifecycle, including onboarding, metadata management, and access control.
- Maintain glossaries, dictionaries, and repositories to support consistent data use and self-service discovery.
- Collaborate with key data managers and analysts to ensure accurate metadata, integration, and alignment with governance standards.
- Monitor usage, drive adoption, provide training and user support, and implement efficient, sustainable processes.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment with APHA’s priorities.
- Collaborate across departments to achieve common goals, supporting the development and delivery of engagement and communication plans.
Data Analysis and Reporting
- Lead the development, production, and analysis of high-quality, accurate, and timely data, intelligence, and management information to inform decision-making and drive great outcomes.
Continuous Improvement
- Review and refine existing systems and processes, introducing new approaches and harmonising practices across APHA and the wider Defra group.
- Identify and deliver opportunities for process improvement to enhance service delivery, applying continuous improvement principles in collaboration with operational leaders.
