We are seeking a Pathway Data Coordinator to join the NHS Proton Registry team at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to join a multidisciplinary, data driven team, and play a key role in the NHS Proton Beam Therapy (PBT) service.
We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate, who has the necessary qualifications and skills to be able deliver a high quality and efficient service, in relation to proton patient pathway. You will have the skills to effectively communicate with a broad range of colleagues, knowledge of patients’ pathway of care and cancer services, and experience of hospital specific administration systems.
This role provides the opportunity to be an integral part of the NHS Proton Registry and NHS PBT service, facilitating timely delivery of treatment and aiding in crucial outcomes analysis to ensure the best treatments are delivered to patients, and continuous developments are made to the service.
This is a permanent position, with the option to work a mixture of onsite at The Christie or from home.
- Manage the administration of the NHSE PBT Referral Portal, resolving allocation issues, and act as first point of contact regarding portal-tracked pathways.
- Identify and escalate any pathway bottlenecks and undertake failsafe coordination activities.
- Produce speciality-specific reports as required and distribute pre-defined KPI and performance dashboards.
- Support the Registry analytics division in the production of bespoke reports.
- Handle regulatory and compliance requests, including coordination of responses to Freedom of Information and Parliamentary Questions.
- Support with data quality monitoring activities, using relevant clinical systems and liaising with responsible stakeholders to ensure high standards of data quality.
- Support with policy and process development, contributing to PBT pathway policy refinement and work-instructions.
- Provide administrative and governance support to the NHS Proton Registry, facilitating Registry stakeholder meetings, and managing the Registry opt-out recording.
- Effectively communicate using appropriate terminology with colleagues across multiple disciplines, including the Registry team and NHSE stakeholders, the Proton Clinical Outcomes Units (PCOU), clinical stakeholders, digital service teams, and the wider PBT service teams

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Pathway Coordination & Validation
Patient pathway queries
• Progressing patient referrals through the NHSE PBT referral portal resolving allocation issues (e.g. Treatment centre allocations) not handled automatically by Direct Passthrough
• Act as first point-of-contact for clinicians, centres and commissioners
regarding individual portal-tracked pathways Escalation & breach avoidance
• Identify and escalate any pathway bottlenecks (e.g. backlog, insufficient
centre capacity) to relevant Department and/or Team Manager for action
Stop or pause direct passthrough components when clinically indicated or required
• Ensure referral to treatment (RTT) standards and national rules are adhered to, undertaking regular audits.
• Undertake failsafe coordination activities. Coordination of Patient Pathway
• Facilitate the timely and accurate delivery of all clinical information
requirements, liaising with clinical teams, MDTs and departments across the Trust, and at tertiary centres, to ensure availability at required pathway points.
