CAMHS has a long history of providing services to children and young people with moderate to severe mental health needs, learning disabilities and complex presentations of autism, as well as working closely with the networks around young people and their families, including schools, local authority and other agencies. The postholder will be the clinical lead for North Manchester Core CAMHS providing assessment, intervention and support to this population.
You will closely link with clinicians and managers across MFT CAMHS, and be a key lead in contributing to innovative delivery of psychological services for the whole service. MFT CAMHS have been at the forefront of many national developments for CYP mental health, including research trials, development of innovative targeted teams, CYP-IAPT and i-THRIVE, and you will be part of continuing this innovation.
The postholder must demonstrate excellent working relationships with Children’s Services, Community Health, Education, Parent Carer for a and other partner agencies as required.
The post holder will take a leading role in facilitating provision of a district CAMHS psychological service to children and young people in North Manchester, including referral systems, intervention pathways and service evaluation. Services will include direct assessment, formulation and intervention with children and families, particularly those young people with the most complex psychological needs, including high risk. The role will also involve leading on staff training, consultation and support and provision of psychological advice, including multiagency liaison around complex cases. In conjunction with the Director of Psychological Services and other senior leads in the CSU, to lead on innovative psychological practice.
You will supervise and support the psychological assessment and therapy provided by all psychological practitioners and other clinical members of the North Manchester CAMHS district team who provide psychologically based care and treatment. This includes working autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the service.
