We are seeking an Assistant Policy Officer to join the Connected Communities team within Renfrewshire Council’s Policy and Partnerships Service – a great opportunity to develop your career as a policy professional within a supportive and dynamic local government environment.
The post will provide dedicated policy support to the Fairer Renfrewshire team, who lead on Renfrewshire Council’s strategic approach to poverty and inequalities. The team ensure responsive and flexible policy support is provided to the Chief Executive and Corporate Management Team, service management teams and elected members.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual, effective communicator and strategic thinker with vision and drive to support the Chief Executive’s and Finance and Resources team. As part of the wider policy division, our embedded teams offer high-level strategic support to Council services as well as to the Head of Policy and Partnerships and the wider Corporate Management Team as required. The Policy and Partnerships team operates on the basis of generic job descriptions in order that officers can support services flexibly and as required by the Council.
This role will suit an organised individual with experience of producing written work for a range of audiences. It is essential you have the ability to analyse and present complex information. You must be flexible in your approach with the ability to work to tight deadlines and have effective ICT, organisational, time management and verbal and written communication skills.
Experience in local government or similar diverse organisation is desirable but not essential.
The post is for two years, or until the requirement for the post ceases, whichever date is the earlier.
