About the Role - Graduate Early Years Classroom Assistant

A thriving primary school in Watford is offering a fantastic opportunity for a Graduate Early Years Classroom Assistant to join their Early Years Foundation Stage team.
This role is ideal for graduates who want to gain school-based experience before training as a teacher, educational psychologist, or SEN specialist. You will play a key part in helping young learners (ages 3–5) develop essential skills, build confidence, and enjoy their first years of school.
Your Main Duties - Graduate Early Years Classroom Assistant
As part of the early years team, you will:
• Work with Nursery and Reception pupils across all areas of learning
• Provide 1:1 and small group support to children, including those with additional needs
• Encourage progress in phonics, early reading, writing, and number work
• Prepare creative learning resources and activities to engage pupils
• Support children’s wellbeing, behaviour, and social development
• Contribute to daily routines such as playtime and lunchtime supervision
Candidate Profile - Graduate Early Years Classroom Assistant
The school is looking for a graduate who is:
• Educated to degree level (any subject, though backgrounds in Psychology, Education, Sociology, or related fields are highly valued)
• Enthusiastic about working with young children and supporting their growth
• Patient, caring, and able to build strong relationships with pupils and staff
• Interested in a future career in teaching, child psychology, or educational support
• Experienced in working with children (desirable but not essential)
