A secondary school in Manchester is searching for a committed Male Graduate Learning Support Assistant to work 1:1 with a Year 7 pupil who has muscular dystrophy and uses a wheelchair. This full-time role begins in September 2025 and pays £550–£610 per week.
The Role – Graduate Learning Support Assistant:
As a Graduate Learning Support Assistant, you will:
• Support a pupil with muscular dystrophy across lessons and daily activities
• Assist with wheelchair transfers and mobility (manual handling training provided)
• Deliver personal care as needed
• Provide academic support across core subjects
• Carry out standard Teaching Assistant responsibilities within the classroom
This Graduate Learning Support Assistant position is particularly suited to Psychology graduates or those with related backgrounds who are keen to progress into Educational Psychology, Counselling, Support Work, or SEN roles. You will work closely with a child with Muscular Dystrophy, gaining fantastic hands-on experience and benefiting from significant on-the-job training such as Manual Handling, Direct Personal Care, Safeguarding and more. You will assist with the day-to-day needs of this child, gaining insights and experience into working with SEN, as well as offering academic and emotional support as well as assisting in-class as a Teaching Assistant.
