An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Trust for a floating, fixed-term trainee to support with a vacancy on the resident doctor rotation for a period of up to 12 months. As a floating member of the team you can be deployed into a 4 or 6-month vacancy within Kent in line with the rotation dates, therefore a flexible and adaptable approach is essential.

We are looking to recruit a versatile and adaptable individualsto join the East Kent Rehabilitation services team in the first instance, future placements will then be agreed. There are 3 rehabilitation units spread across the locality.

This position offers a rewarding opportunity to gain relevant psychiatry experience at trainee level in order to support an application for the training scheme or Specialty Doctor positions.

The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic individual that works to the highest standards, is able to think autonomously and work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

The postholder will be required to:

· Take full histories, including a mental state examination and conducting physical examination with special focus on the central nervous system for in patients and inpatient setting and for new assessments in out patient clinics.

· Make provisional diagnosis, summarising the history and making a provisional care plan jointly with the nursing and or allied health professional staff.

· Request appropriate laboratory investigations and ensuring that the results are documented in the notes. Bringing to the attention of the Consultant and/or Specialty Doctor any abnormal results if deemed necessary.

· Act on any abnormal laboratory or imaging results and liaise with appropriate teams as necessary under supervision of the Consultant

· Take corroborative history from the relatives and arranging family meetings in relation to the management of patients on the ward and in respect of future management in the community.

· Carrying out routine reviews of patient’s mental and physical status.

· Take blood when necessary, recording ECG and other physical investigations results on RiO.

· Participate in assessment and reviews of patients in hospital and outpatients.

· Participate in ward rounds and MDT meetings

· Participate in the on call day/night rota associated with the job
