What the school offers its staff

About the English Department:

The English department at Weavers Academy is a vibrant and well-established team of 11 dedicated teachers, offering a dynamic and supportive environment for both staff and students. Early Career Teachers (ECTs) benefit from strong mentoring and guidance, with a clear pathway for professional growth supported by the department’s collective expertise.

Located adjacent to the school library, the department enjoys access to excellent facilities that enhance both teaching and learning. We follow the AQA exam board for GCSE and A-level English, with additional A-level options including Media Studies. Students are encouraged to engage beyond the classroom through a rich programme of extra-curricular activities, including visits from theatre companies, educational trips, and targeted intervention hours. For staff, ongoing development is a priority, with CPD credits offered throughout the year to support continuous learning and career progression.
