Murphy is recruiting for a Bid Writer to work with our Work Winning Proposals Team at Kentish Town

This role is to support the Head of Proposals in producing high quality bids for a wide range of major civil engineering opportunities. A day in the life of a Murphy Bid Writer
- Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Operational Teams and Delivery Teams to draft high-quality technical and qualitative responses, including construction methodologies, programme narratives, and other critical bid components.
- Lead the planning, storyboarding, response reviews and preparation of high-quality submissions, ensuring all timelines are met.
- Facilitate and lead Opportunity Start-Up and content planning workshops, compiling outputs and coordinating follow-up meetings with the bid manager to conclude actions and improve bid positioning.
- Liaise proactively with SMEs to secure timely input and feedback, driving progress independently to meet submission deadlines.
- Incorporate reviewer feedback to refine responses, ensuring alignment with client expectations and bid objectives.
- Review client documents thoroughly, including scoring criteria and strategic information, to extract and integrate key details into bid responses.
- Support bid strategy development by incorporating insights from client documents, strategy sessions, and win themes to maximise scoring potential.
- Manage workloads effectively under time constraints, meeting deadlines with discipline and flexibility.
- Edit and proofread all documentation prior to submission, ensuring professionalism in formatting, collation and presentation.
- Assist operational teams with the behavioural requirements of bids, including training and preparation for interviews, assessments and written responses

- Experience of delivering successful high value bids across Rail / Transportation, Highways, Water, Power, Building, Oil and Gas and Tunnelling.
- Strong writing, editing and organisational skills.
- The ability to convey complex and technical issues in clear, plain English.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders externally and across the business.
- Knowledge of the bid lifecycle from tracking of OJEU notices to PQQ, Tender and Post Tender Interviews
- Experience of coordinating and updating a knowledgebase system is essential along with advanced MS Word skills & proficient in MS Office.
Note: Bid Writers will be required to complete a writing test as part of the selection process to ensure alignment with the role
