Promote the safe use of medicines in hepatology across the trust and act as an expert resource in this practice area across Kings College Hospital and the South Thames ODN. Act as a role model and national expert in hepatology ensuring a consistently high level of pharmacy input in line with corporate objectives, ODN objectives and the NHS England policy. Accept referrals from clinical staff regarding medicine use in hepatology, providing expert opinion and consultancy support where appropriate. Manage the Principal Pharmacist, Liver and Private Patients who is responsible for leading, delivering, developing, managing and evaluating the clinical pharmacy services to the specialty. Ensure delivery of cost-effective prescribing across Kings College Hospital and the ODN by working with commissioners and specific Trusts to manage budgets, formulate cost improvement plans and monitor any potential savings. Coordinate financial reporting across the ODN by working with the wider MDT. Support commissioning processes for hepatology and across the ODN working with both the CCGs and Specialised Commissioning to ensure effective communication and data sharing are in place to support payment processes. Work in conjunction with the ODN Clinical Leads in developing and updating the network plan. Make a measurable contribution in achieving the ODN targets as outlined in the appropriate CQUINs and QIPPS. Increase public and provider engagement in the public health agenda surrounding national hepatology including alcohol related liver disease and fatty liver by assisting in the development of pathways to help increase screening, diagnosing and treatment rates. Lead on developing innovative pharmacist focused service delivery pathways to ensure that those with highest unmet need are identified and treated. Lead education and development in medicines use in hepatology for trust staff and those involved in hepatology service provision across the ODN. Participate in outpatient clinics across the ODN, patient monitoring and act as the primary link for complex medication queries for clinicians working across the ODN. Lead on, undertake, supervise and publish research in medicines use in hepatology. To provide clinical leadership pertaining to delivery of clinical trials in hepatology.
