Head of Community Interests
Work from home | Fully flexible schedule | Part-time role
The CIC branch of The Escape Rooms Newport is dedicated to ensuring that immersive play is for everyone — accessible to all, without barriers. As we launch and grow, we’re looking for a Head of Community Interests to oversee the day-to-day running of the CIC, manage funding, and champion our commitment to inclusion and transparency.
THE ROLE:
This is a flexible, remote position where your wellbeing and needs come first. You’ll be involved in:
- Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the CIC.
- Managing budgets, monitoring cash flow, and allocating funds responsibly.
- Reaching out to charity partners, government agencies, and community organisations to direct funds to the people who most need and deserve them.
- Researching and applying for funding opportunities, grants, and other forms of support.
- Preparing and submitting applications for project-specific grants.
- Ensuring transparency in how funds are used, by posting regular updates via social media, blogs, and other communication channels.
- Supporting reporting requirements to funders and ensuring compliance.
- Helping to shape our inclusive and accessible workplace practices from the very start.
We’d love to hear from you if you are:
- Organised, reliable, and confident managing finances and administration.
- Experienced in fundraising, grant writing, or financial management (experience in the non-profit/charity/CIC sector is a bonus).
- Comfortable building relationships with charity partners and public bodies.
- A strong communicator with excellent writing skills, especially for public-facing updates.
- Proactive and able to work independently, while being collaborative in a team setting.
- Passionate about equity, inclusion, and making immersive play accessible to everyone.
- Highly preferred: An interest or experience with Escape Rooms, or with large social deduction games / interactive in-person games.
Pay & Reward Structure
We believe flexibility should apply to pay as well as working style. That’s why we’ll work with the successful candidate to create a structure that suits them best. Options include:
- A per-project fee.
- A commission-based structure tied to successful funding applications.
- A set hourly rate within a zero-hour contract.
- Or a suitable combination of these approaches.
This puts you, not us, in the driving seat — so you can choose what works best for your circumstances and preferences.
Our Commitment to Inclusion
We are an inclusive and disability-positive workplace. We want to make waves in the way people with the need for flexible accommodations are welcomed and supported. We especially encourage applications from:
- Neurodivergent people.
- People with fluctuating health conditions or dynamic disabilities.
- People with caring responsibilities or other life circumstances that require flexibility.
At our CIC, flexibility is built in without judgement, pressure, or reproach. Every voice is heard, every input is valued, and we work collaboratively toward shared goals. Your wellbeing and health will always be a priority here.
WHAT WE OFFER:
- Fully remote, flexible working — you decide when and how you work.
- An opportunity to contribute to meaningful, community-focused projects.
- A chance to shape our processes from the very start to ensure inclusivity and accessibility.
- A supportive and collaborative team environment.
How to Apply
If this sounds like the right fit for you, please send your CV and a short cover note explaining why you’d be a good match to info@escapenewport.co.uk.
Suggestions for your cover note:
We’d love to get to know you a little better. If its helpful, you can use these prompts to guide your cover letter, short write-up, video, or voice note (communicate however suits you best). Share as much or as little as feels comfortable.
- What excites you about our mission of making immersive play accessible to everyone?
- Any experience you’ve had with funding, budgets, or resource management.
- Your interest or experience with Escape Rooms, social deduction games, or other interactive/immersive play.
- What kind of flexibility or support helps you do your best work.
- How you might share updates or stories with our community (blogs, social posts, etc.).
And finally: anything else you’d like us to know about you.
