Outreach Tutor (GCSE SEN - Buckinghamshire)
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Prospero Teaching is looking for a dedicated and experienced Outreach Tutor to deliver bespoke, 1:1 tuition packages to young people in Buckinghamshire who are currently not attending mainstream education.
This role is ideal for a qualified teacher (QTS or PGCE) with a strong background in GCSE-level English, Maths, and Science, and experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
As an Outreach Tutor, you will be responsible for designing and delivering personalised lessons to KS4 learners, helping them re-engage with their education, fill knowledge gaps, and build confidence in preparation for their GCSEs. Many of these students have been out of education for extended periods and may require additional emotional and behavioural support as part of their learning journey.
You will have the full support of the Prospero team, who will work with you to track progress and ensure positive outcomes for each young person.
CONTRACT / POSITION DETAILS
- Location - Various locations across Buckinghamshire
- Position - Outreach Tutor (GCSE - SEN)
- Type of work - Contract (1:1 tuition)
- Start date - ASAP
- Duration / Likely Duration - Ongoing, dependent on student needs
- Contract type - Temporary
- Full time/part time - 10 to 15 hours per week (flexible depending on availability)
- Minimum rate of pay - £25 per hour
- Hours - Typically between 1 to 3 hours per session
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
- QTS, PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification (essential)
- Proven experience teaching KS4/GCSE English, Maths and Science
- SEN experience (essential)
- Minimum 6 months' experience working in a UK school or education setting
- Up-to-date Safeguarding training (desirable - training can be provided)
TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:
- Hold Right to Work in the UK
- Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service, or be willing to apply for a new one
- Provide two professional child-related references from the last two years
