As Maintenance Assistant we’re looking for someone who keeps things running smoothly—the one who knows how to solve problems, offer expert advice, and ensure the hospital estate operates at its best. As a Maintenance Assistant at Wythenshawe Hospital, you'll be the go to expert for technical support and maintenance across equipment, building systems, and utility services.

What You’ll Do:

  • Respond promptly to issued dockets, accurately complete documentation, and carry out assigned repair and maintenance tasks.
  • Adhere to health and safety requirements, including use of PPE, safe working practices, and compliance with relevant policies.
  • Perform routine cleaning duties across sites, including plant rooms, ducts, workshops, and boiler houses, following SOPs.
  • Assist tradesmen and undertake minor repairs, groundwork repairs, roofing, patch painting, and plastering as directed.
  • Carry out seasonal duties such as snow and ice clearance, gritting, gutter, and gully clearance as instructed.
  • Use relevant tools, equipment, and technology (such as PDA, access equipment), and undertake training on new systems and techniques.
  • Work independently when required, including driving company vehicles and supporting other Sodexo contracts as needed.

What You Bring:

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience with HVAC, Medical Gas, Heating, or BMS systems
  • Skilled in diagnostics, repairs, and using CAFM/BMS systems
  • Solid fault finding, problem solving, and technical repair skills
  • Ability to read technical drawings and diagnose issues.
  • Excellent time management, teamwork, and communication
  • A positive, initiative-taking approach—able to work independently or as part of a team.
