Job Advert
We are looking for a compassionate and enthusiastic Support Worker to join our team in Saxmundham to support a friendly and outgoing individual. This role is ideal for someone mature who has a genuine passion for helping others live full and independent lives.
The individual you’ll be working with is sociable and energetic. He has a love for swimming, a soft spot for cats, and a keen interest in learning new languages. The person we support at this service is finding his way through many aspects of daily life, and he’s looking for someone who can walk beside him on that journey — not just as a support worker, but as a trusted companion.
We are looking for someone who can embody Mencap's values, offering both emotional encouragement and practical support. Experience working with people with autism is highly desirable, as you’ll play a key role in helping him build routines and approaching new experiences with confidence.

A full driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential, as you’ll often be accompanying him to activities, appointments, or trips out in the community.

Shifts & Hours:

- We have full time, part-time and relief roles available, so we can be flexible with what hours you are looking for
- We support this gentleman over days, evenings, sleep ins and occasional weekends so we are looking for someone who can be flexible with the hours they can work, day/evening shifts can range between 7am-10pm and sleep in shifts start at 10pm and finish at 7am.

*All roles are subject to an enhanced DBS check and suitable references.
Please note: This position does not meet the minimum salary requirements for a Health and Care visa under the UK Skilled Worker route, as set by the Home Office. Therefore, although Mencap is a licensed sponsor, we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role. Applicants must already have the legal right to work in the UK, as we are not able to support new visa applications or sponsorship requests for this vacancy.
