What skills and experience we're looking for
We are seeking a detail-focused and proactive Attendance Officer to monitor and improve pupil attendance.
You will work closely with families, pastoral staff, and external agencies to promote good attendance habits and ensure no child falls through the gaps.
The successful candidate will have:
• Excellent organisational and administrative skills, with a high level of accuracy when handling attendance data.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with pupils, parents, staff, and external agencies.
• The confidence and sensitivity to challenge poor attendance and support families in overcoming barriers to school attendance.
• A good understanding of safeguarding and the link between attendance and pupil wellbeing.
• Proficiency in using data management systems (such as Arbor, or similar) and Microsoft Office applications.
• The ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and respond flexibly to changing priorities.
• A calm, professional, and discreet manner, with a commitment to confidentiality and data protection.
• A passion for supporting children’s education by improving attendance and punctuality.
