An exciting opportunity has arisen to join an established team of Community Children’s Nurses in Birmingham. This is acity wideservice that offers specialist nursing support to children & families with a variety of complex physical health needs.
We provide clinical interventions to children within their own homes,schoolsand other community locations. The serviceoperatesseven days a weekand alsoprovides an out of hours ‘on-call’ service.
If you are an experienced Children’s Nurse with excellent clinical skills, have advanced communication abilities you may be who we are looking for to join our busy team. This post will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to develop rewarding therapeutic relationships with children & families in a community setting.
You willbe requiredto work in conjunction with the Children’s Rapid Response Service whose aim is to prevent a hospital admission and the Children’s Palliative Care Team in supporting parents,carersand children with life limiting conditions and in the terminal phase.
The post holder willbe responsible fora defined caseload of children delivering high quality nursing care according to agreed standards which are set andmonitored.

1. Workin accordance withNMC Code of Professional Practice and Scope of Professional Practice. Professionally and legally accountable and responsible for all activities.
1. Provide comprehensive evidence based and skilled nursing care to children within their own home or other community settings.
1. Provide health education information to the child and family, to promote a healthy lifestyle and whereappropriate addresspublic health issues.
1. Participate in teaching packages to families,carersand other professionals to ensureevidence basedcare is safely delivered.
1. Undertake home risk assessments.
1. Obtain informed consent from children,parentsand carers before undertaking care.
1. Maintain clear and contemporaneous records. Ensure information is obtained and recorded before undertaking care.
1. Liaise and work in collaboration with acute services, primary healthcareteamand otherservicesas necessary.
1. Provide a flexible service to accommodate the working environment.
1. Travel to visit clients within the Birmingham boundaries.
1. Comply withNMC Code of Conduct and standards, ensuring a professional attitude ismaintainedat all times.
1. To work independently within BCHC guidelines and policies.
Education
1. Maintain and update knowledge and skills in relation to the post.
1. Tomaintainown professional development in line with NMC requirements and attend mandatory trainingidentifiedby the organisation and NMC.
1. Participate in the teaching and mentorship of staff.
1. Participate in research and audit relevant to the service.
Management and Leadership Responsibilities
1. Maintain standards and ensure clinical governance is central to the function of the service.
1. Toidentifyandadvisethe Team Leader or senior nurse/manager of any circumstances that give rise for concern.
