A Vacancy at Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust.
We are seeking an experienced, innovative and passionate SLT to join the Early Years SLT team working with a range of children with speech language and communication needs and a caseload of deaf children within the Inner London boroughs of Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster.
The post holder will work in partnership with parents/carers, Qualified Teachers of the Deaf, Educational Audiologists, other members of the multi-disciplinary team and nurseries/schools to deliver a high-quality service consisting of assessment and intervention for a complex caseload. As well as being experienced in delivering a range of communication interventions (including AAC), the post holder should have knowledge and skills in supporting children with complex needs and social communication differences. Experience of assessing and working with deaf children is essential. The post holder will also respect and support each family’s preferred mode of communication, whether this is a listening and spoken language approach or a signed language approach, ensuring that intervention is tailored to the child’s and family’s individual needs. Commitment to reflective learning and strong team work skills are essential.
• Work collaboratively with families, Teachers of the Deaf, and the wider multi-disciplinary team to support the development and communication of deaf children.
• Build on your specialist skills and experience in supporting deaf children and their families.
• Be part of a service which has an active diversity and inclusion ethos where EDI is established as part of our Business as Usual when thinking about our service users and our staff.
• Continue to develop your clinical skills including carrying out assessment, identifying needs, developing, implementing and evaluating specialist programmes of care. Work with early years staff and families to embed communication supportive environments and run evidence based targeted interventions.
• Support the development of the universal and targeted service to children and families with a range of SLC needs.
• Be a representative of the early years SLT service within the child development service
• Contribute to the quality improvement work of the wider CLCH SLT early years’ service.
• Work in innovative, motivated teams in a supportive and progressive environment
