An exciting opportunity has arisen at Wrexham University to join our Inclusion Services and Disability Support Team as a Specialist Study Skills Tutor.
In this role you will be expected to deliver high quality specialist, non-subject specific individually tailored study skills tuition to students who have Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD), mental health conditions, autistic spectrum conditions, long term health conditions and physical and sensory impairments who are registered with the University Inclusion Services and Disability Support team.
You will support students to develop a range of study skills strategies including organisational skills in order for them to manage their time and workload effectively. You will also support other strategies including memory, reading, note-taking, essay planning, exam revision skills and any other appropriate approaches. Our aim is to promote and implement an inclusive learning environment, enabling students to study independently and reach their potential.
You will also contribute to the creation of resources and delivery of awareness training on good practice in supporting students who have Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) or other neurodivergent conditions to University academic and professional support staff.
The successful candidate must be educated to Degree level or equivalent, with a recognised Dyslexia/SpLD related qualification and meet the specific qualifications/ and professional body membership requirements of the DfE Disabled Students Allowances (DSA) and Non-Medical Help (NMH) framework to deliver DSA specialist support. This includes Full Professional Membership of either PATOSS, BDA, ADSHE or Associate Dyslexia Guild Membership.
