Crynodeb
The Civilian Boat Support Assistant will be responsible to the CMU Boat Support Manager (EO), for continuity and interface between all agencies involved in the maintenance, repair, and support of Police Launches and RHIBs and their associated equipment. They will also be responsible to the Operational Support (Marine) Department at MDP HQ, for the completion of returns as directed. They must also be prepared to attend out with normal working hours, if required.
To assist the Boat Support manager (BSM) in the management of the “safety database”, frequently checking items are in date, arranging disposal and replacement, when necessary, via the appropriate paperwork.
Required to source, obtain a minimum of 3 quotes, costings and delivery timescales for local procurement of parts and equipment not readily available through stores procedures ensuring all paperwork is completed with the appropriate signatories and liaising with the local GPC holder on procurement.
To manage trailer maintenance scheduling, raising the appropriate paperwork and liaising with contractors in uplift and delivery as required.
To assist in the administration of boats returning for maintenance/re-fits liaising with DES Ships and the appropriate contractor and updating the database with the respective relevant information.
To provide basic cover for the BSM in their absence in submitting the appropriate vessel defect reporting forms and the issue of the “Daily Status”.
General unit administration including visitor notifications, fuel management etc along with possible escort duties or collection/delivery of parts to contractors/companies.
Maintaining a record of all trailer maintenance, arranging servicing and repairs as necessary and transport to/from the service company.
Assisting the Boat Support Manager in resolving requests for contractor assistance, to include the collection and delivery of parts and equipment.
As directed by the Boat Support Manager, to inspect in-service vessel pyrotechnics, ensuring that they are in date and in a serviceable condition, and arranging for disposal and replacement as applicable.
Management of all CMU officers’ personnel clothing records, carrying out audits/inspections on specialised clothing/equipment when required, including Body Armour, Baton and Handcuffs.
Ordering, receiving, issuing, returning and disposal of all general and specialised clothing, equipment, and boat stores.
Remote working within this role is something that can be discussed at interview stages or with your future line manager if you are found successful.
