Rate: £25 PAYE / £32 Umbrella

The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Technical Surveyor to join a local authority housing team in the South East on a temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in repairs and property adaptations to take ownership of technical inspections, case management, and contractor oversight.
The successful candidate will work across a varied housing portfolio, ensuring homes are maintained to high standards while delivering vital adaptation works to meet residents' needs.
Key Responsibilities

Carry out inspections of social housing properties to diagnose defects and specify appropriate repairs

Assess, design, and oversee adaptation works including disabled facilities and specialist modifications

Prepare detailed schedules of work, specifications, and technical reports

Supervise contractors and operatives, ensuring works are delivered on time, to budget, and in line with compliance standards

Provide technical advice on building pathology, repairs, and adaptations

Liaise with residents, contractors, and key stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and customer satisfaction

Ensure all works comply with housing legislation, building regulations, and health & safety requirements

Support the delivery of both responsive repairs and planned adaptation projects
Requirements

Proven experience as a Technical Surveyor within social housing - essential

Strong track record in repairs and adaptations projects

Excellent knowledge of housing condition, building pathology, and property compliance

Experience producing schedules of work and managing contractors
-
Strong reporting, organisational, and communication skills

Full UK driving licence preferred
