Learning Support Assistant - Secondary School - Wandsworth

Up to £120 per day | Long Term Role (Temp to Perm)
Long Term Futures are working with a popular, inclusive secondary school in Wandsworth to appoint a Learning Support Assistant to join their Learning Support and SEMH Resource Base team from October 2025.
This role is ideal for a calm, caring and committed professional with experience supporting students with additional learning needs. You will be working closely with a Year 8 student who requires 1:1 support, including personal care, and assisting more broadly across the year group with classroom-based learning and social development.
The school offers a nurturing, structured environment where support staff are fully integrated into the wider pastoral and SEN team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 8 student with learning difficulties, including personal care
* Support class teachers with in-class interventions and tailored SEN strategies across KS3
* Monitor emotional, academic and behavioural progress in line with the student's support plan
* Assist with transitions, break/lunch supervision and general wellbeing
* Liaise with the SENCo, teachers and external professionals as part of a multi-agency approach
* Promote a safe, inclusive and respectful learning environment
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/4 or above) - essential
* Experience supporting students with SEND, ideally within secondary education
* Confidence in delivering personal care with dignity and professionalism
* Excellent interpersonal, organisational and behaviour management skills
* A team-focused approach and understanding of safeguarding and inclusion
* Experience working in SEMH, medical or resource base settings is highly desirable

* Accessible via Tooting Bec, Balham and Earlsfield stations
* Local bus routes: 44, 77, 270, 155, G1
* Staff parking and cycle storage available on-site
