We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic and hard working dental nurse to join the Orthodontic Dental Nursing team to support with New Patient Consultation, Fixed & Removable appliances, MDT clinics for hypodontia, Orthognathic treatment, Cleft and Restorative.

The post holder will be expected to support the evening and weekend clinical activity on a rota basis.

The following position is available:

0.2WTE (7.5hrs) Band 4 Dental Nurse - Permanent

To work flexibly within a dental team providing high quality care to a wide spectrum of patients across localities within the Dental Service, based at Birmingham Dental Hospital (BDH) and Community Dental Services (CDS) including Mobile Clinics and/or additional external sites as required.



Dental Nurses will be expected to work flexibly across the Dental Hospital and within our outreach sites.



To provide chair side assistance to clinicians within the dental service.



To carry out clerical and administrative duties to ensure efficient operation of the clinic/department.

· Maintain a high standard of patient care and confidentiality within all dental clinics throughout the service.

· To prepare and monitor patients for and during their dental treatment, providing pre and post operative instructions as required.

· To undertake the general care of the surgery including dental equipment/instruments (medical devices) and arrange any necessary repairs as required.

· To ensure medical emergency drugs and equipment are available and up to date.

· To provide chair side assistance and postoperative instructions during general anaesthetic and exodontia sessions as required.

· To provide oral health education to patients as required by the clinician.

· To assist the Senior Dental Nurse in the smooth running of the Dental service.

· To support and assist clinicians including all student disciplines.

· To support and supervise all apprentice nurses, undergraduate groups.
