Summary


We have a rare and exciting opportunity to recruit a motivated trained nurse to join our well established team in dermatology. We are looking for an advanced surgical practitioner to assist with skin surgery.

You would be undertaking surgical biopsy and excision lists under local anaesthetic within an out patient clinic setting. Ability to work with autonomy and with excellent time management skills is essential. You would work closely with colleagues to complete biopsy and skin excision as a nurse led service, and play a key role in staff education to develop skin biopsy skills, supporting this advance in service.

The speciality is varied and exciting which despite autonomy of being nurse led, has full support of medical staff to review patients.
You must demonstrate delivery of high standards of care and knowledge within the speciality. We are looking for a self motivated individual, who has surgical experience in theatre.

Training will be offered to candidates to develop advanced practice with more complex surgery as required.

You will be a clinical expert, able to provide calm, assertive leadership and show a commitment to service improvement. The role will involve leading junior colleagues within the surgical team, so keenness to teach and inspire is essential.

Willingness to undertake surgery sessions in alternative locations within Cambridgeshire may be required.

You are a recognised expert in the specialty, responsible for assessing, developing and implementing specialist nursing theatre skills.

Responsible for providing specialist advice and support to, and liaising with, other staff. This includes the provision of specialist education and training for other staff and students

Required to undertake research and lead clinical audits in own specialist area

Independently operate on plastic surgery patients to ensure high level of skin excision and closure

Recognition of skin lesions and when to appropriate escalate concern prior to concern.

Assist with implementation of histological results giving to patients and explanation of treatment plans

Line management of junior Surgical Nurses within plastic surgery

Responsible for teaching/education of colleagues within surgery setting

Responsible for ensuring standards of own practice are maintained with regular supervision by consultant team.
