The British Council Scotland SGSAH EARTH Scholarships is an annual programme that has run since 2023 with funding support from the British Council, see link for more details https://www.sgsah.ac.uk/prospective/earth-scholarships-2025/. It has enabled international research collaborations between PhD and Early Career Researchers and Scottish HEIs and Scotland-based academic mentors, and external organisations, thematically focused on environmental arts and humanities and their interdisciplinary connections.

In order to showcase the impact of the EARTH Scholarships from over the last 3 years, we are planning two impact activities, both delivered around EARTH Day 2026 (22 April):

• An EARTH Scholarship Symposium drawing together scholars from across all 3 cohorts, both incoming scholars and Scotland-based
• A public- and sectoral-facing report, including outcomes from the EARTH Scholarship programme.

The postholder will support coordination and delivery of the impact programme, including being the main point of contact for the Symposium.

Eligibility
To be considered for this role of you must:

• Be able to commit 140 hours to the role from 1 Dec 2025 (or as soon as possible thereafter) until 30 April 2026, including attendance at the Symposium, week of the 20 April.
• Be registered as a doctoral researcher in the Arts & Humanities, enrolled at a SGSAH member HEI.
• Have an interest in the environmental arts & humanities, or stakeholder-facing/impact activity, or both.

EARTH Impact Coordinator’s responsibilities include:
• Liaise with SGSAH team to ensure effective development and delivery of the impact programme particular responsibility for scheduling and logistical arrangements.
• Coordinate and manage all travel and accommodation for all symposium participants– within defined budget and deadline framework.
• Work closely with the Communications Officer to develop social media content e.g., blog posts and news items for the SGSAH newsletter.
• Responsible for ensuring all digital information is accurate and current, and compliant with copyright legislation.
• Liaise regularly with the SGSAH team on content planning, ensuring adequate records are maintained in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)
• Contribute to reporting and evaluation methodologies to support funder and other reporting requirements in collaboration with the SGSAH Team.

This post is part time (140 hours over duration of contract) and is fixed term until 30th April 2026.
