Shire Foods is a manufacturer of frozen unbaked pastry products for the retail and foodservice sectors.
Role Description
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for troubleshooting using excellent fault-finding skills and dealing with tasks to maintain and enhance a world-class, fully automated production process and front-line packaging plant.
You will assist with plant optimisation and performance within a genuine culture of continuous improvement. Ensuring that production targets are achieved on time, you will work to stringent cost and quality standards.
You will work with the factory's planned maintenance system, developing and completing planned maintenance routines, and constantly monitoring the effectiveness of any system.
Main Responsibilities
Communicate effectively with the other Engineering Team and Staff on site via shift diaries and email system
Log all data/readings accurately for Industrial Refrigeration and other plant and Equipment.
Have the ability/skills to make essential repairs and adjustments to plant and equipment to ensure that cooking/production/packing is not compromised.
Ability to use PPM systems.
Promote a Continuous Improvement Culture throughout the site. Ideally, wide experience with Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Steam, three-phase electrical systems including inverters and PLCs, Compressed Air, Industrial refrigeration, Mechanical, such as bearings etc. (Not all the above must be covered)
Preferred Qualifications/Skills set:
This position is open to multi-skilled, time-served Engineers who have suitable electrical / engineering qualifications and are keen to develop their career in a fast-paced environment. Food Industry Experience is ideal, but a tidy, methodical working manner is equally important.
One of the most important qualities is a “can-do” attitude and total flexibility in working hours and days.
Rotating shift pattern, mornings, afternoons or nights will be required, depending on the needs of the business or covering holidays, but mainly working the night shift.
