An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to take on a Lead Vet role within a busy 24-hour hospital in Shrewsbury. This position is perfect for someone with a passion for both clinical excellence and team leadership, who wants to make a meaningful impact in a well-supported and progressive environment.

Working closely with the Practice Manager and Lead Nurse, you’ll play a pivotal role in day-to-day operations while coaching and mentoring colleagues to deliver the highest standards of patient care. Alongside clinical leadership, you’ll also have the chance to be involved in business aspects such as KPIs and practice performance, ensuring continued success and growth of the hospital.

The hospital itself offers excellent facilities, including:
• Two theatre suites (one dedicated to advanced surgeries)
• A dental suite
• Separate wards for dogs and cats, supporting feline-friendly care
• Five consulting rooms handling a varied caseload, including both soft tissue and orthopaedics

You’ll also be working alongside an advanced clinical team, including surgical certificate holders, giving you the opportunity to collaborate and develop further in a supportive and forward-thinking setting.

About You

• RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon with strong clinical skills.
• Confident leader with experience in mentoring, staff development, and clinical governance.
• Exceptional communicator, able to engage effectively with both clients and team members.
• Keen to contribute to practice performance and explore business aspects such as KPIs and P&L.
• VetGDP qualification (or willingness to obtain).
