This is a fantastic opportunity to start your career in butchery while contributing to high-quality learner experiences and supporting our mission to deliver excellence.About the roleAs a Butchery Apprentice, you’ll work alongside experienced professionals to learn the full scope of butchery operations—from inspecting and preparing meat to packaging and advising customers. You’ll play a key role in maintaining food safety standards, supporting learners, and helping fulfil orders for our canteen and external customers.Key responsibilities:Prepare, trim, weigh, label, and price meat productsCut and bone carcasses, package meat, and store it safelyMaintain hygiene and food safety standardsSupport learners in a safe and engaging environmentAttend marketing events to promote courses and raise the College’s profileHelp maintain equipment and facilitiesMeet targets for meat delivery, sales, and masterclass incomeKeep accurate records and complete prestart checksClean down the department daily to required standardsThe successful candidate will:Hold a Level 2 qualification and Level 2 Maths & English (or equivalent)Be quality-conscious and technically soundBe self-motivated and able to inspire othersDemonstrate understanding of the butchery industryBe able to think creatively and work within budgetary limitsHave IT skills in MS Office (desirable)We can offer you35 days annual leave plus bank holidaysA two-week festive/New Year shut downGenerous pension scheme with an employer contribution of 20.8%Enhanced sick pay of up to 6 months full pay depending on serviceOn-site gym membership availablePluxee reward schemeFor more information, please refer to the full job description.Please note this role constitutes ‘regulated activity’ as defined by the Protection of Freedom Act 2012.
