Pharmacy Assistant (Rotational)

Department:Pharmacy

Band 2 £24,465 per annum

Full-time 37.5 per week, shift pattern - Sunday & Bank Holiday roster, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working

It is an exciting time to join the pharmacy team at MKUH; we are continually growing in size and influence and have recently built a new Aseptic Unit and refurbished our main pharmacy department including the installation of a state of the art dispensing robot.

We are a department of over 90 staff providing pharmacy services through team-working and prioritising the needs of those we serve, so evidence of customer service skills would be an advantage.

Our Pharmacy Assistants provide dispensing services in the hospital pharmacy and work in the pharmacy stores, on the wards (top up of stock) and our aseptic production unit on a rotational basis as required by the service. This will broaden your skills and helps us to ensure we have a service that can meet all the demands that are placed on it.

If you think that you can fill this role, and help yourself and our pharmacy to deliver excellent service, we are interested in receiving your application through NHS jobswww.nhs.jobs.uk

For further information, please contact Amy Baker on 01908 995719 or email amy.baker@mkuh.nhs.uk

• To hold or acquire the required academic standard and technical skills to obtain an NVQ Level 2 Certificate in Pharmacy Services Skills and to use those skills to deliver a consistently high standard of service.
• To act as a dispenser within our hospital pharmacy service, as required, on a rotational basis and as part of our late, weekend and bank holiday service to the patients of our hospital and other organisations to whom we provide pharmaceutical support.
• To accurately complete the booking in and issuing of stock and individually dispensed items using our computer systems and dispensing robot.

Milton Keynes University Hospital, in proud partnership with the University of Buckingham, is a University Teaching Hospital committed to advancing patient care through cutting-edge research and education. With a “Good” rating from the CQC and significant investment underway, this is an exciting time to join our team and grow your career.

As a medium sized general hospital, we provide a full range of general medical and surgical services, including a busy Emergency Department, Maternity, and Paediatrics. As the population of our city and surrounding areas continues to grow rapidly, we are expanding and enhancing our facilities to meet rising demand and improve access to care for all our communities.

We are also proud to offer a growing portfolio of specialist services. In January 2025 we opened our state-of-the-art Radiotherapy Centre, bringing advanced cancer treatment closer to home. Our services also include neonatology, specialist surgical care, and a wide range of diagnostics, supported by the new Community Diagnostic Centre at Whitehouse Health Centre.

Further investment is underway, including the construction of Oak Wards – a new ward block featuring two 24-bed wards – and the recently approved Women and Children’s Centre, set to open by 2030.
