The Specialist Cancer Centre for Urology in Essex has recently received £2 million in investment to enhance and expand its services. As part of this exciting development, we are growing our Urology Surgical Care Practitioner (SCP) Team.
We are now seeking a Lead Surgical Care Practitioner (SCP) to join our Urology team at Southend Hospital. This is a fixed-term role, ideal for an experienced, fully trained SCP ready to take on a leadership position within a forward-thinking, high-performing environment.
As Lead Surgical Care Practitioner, you will be an integral member of the Urology team, supporting the directorate in delivering key performance targets, with a strong focus on the quality and patient experience agenda.
You will:
• Foster a culture of continuous quality improvement and professional development, ensuring that the delivery of patient care is consistently monitored, reviewed, and enhanced.
• Lead on service development initiatives, supporting the implementation of change where needed to meet evolving patient and service demands.
• Bring a high level of self-motivation, along with the passion, drive, adaptability, and resilience required to thrive in a dynamic healthcare environment.
• Use your excellent communication and influencing skills to engage with multidisciplinary teams, facilitate collaboration, and promote best practices.
• Ensure that quality and patient safety are at the forefront of all clinical and service activities.
Our ambition is to deliver excellent local and specialist services, to improve the health and well being of our patients, and provide a vibrant place for staff to develop, innovate and build careers.
We aim to make the most of our skills and experiences so we can become the best we can be. As one organisation we will recruit the finest and retain more specialist staff due to more employment opportunities across our Trust.
To be considered for this role, you will have successfully completed a clinical and theoretical programme at Master’s level in Surgical Care Practice, making you fully qualified to operate within the SCP scope of practice.
You will be expected to demonstrate:
• Advanced communication skills, with the ability to coordinate care effectively and compassionately across a multidisciplinary team.
• A flexible and collaborative approach, contributing to high-performing clinical environments.
• A strong commitment to delivering an excellent patient experience, ensuring communication is accessible, empathetic, and patient-centred at all times.
