We have a great opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate Healthcare Assistant to join our children's team in CDC nursing. You will work with friendly and experienced staff committed to delivering a high standard of care to babies, children, young people (BCYP) and their families in Barking & Dagenham. Working across the medical teams to support children attending the Child & Family Centre for various appointments.

You be caring and compassionate, possessing excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and you will be adaptable to the needs of BCYP with additional needs that attend the centre.




As a Healthcare Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting babies, children, young people, parents and carers that attend the Child & Family Centre. Being the first point of contact for their appointments and providing essential information. You will be able to adapt your communication and interpersonal skills to the children and families that you see.

Working with BCYP you will be able to complete essential measurements that support their appointments including weight, height, head circumference and blood pressure where appropriate. You will be offered training and support to complete ECG recordings as needed.

Working across the medical teams and CDC nursing to support our children with special educational needs and disabilities you will be offered support and opportunities to grow and develop. Learning about the different provisions within Children's service. Being able to highlight concerns from a service perspective and also a safeguarding one. Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

High Cost Area Supplement - London

This post attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,551 and a maximum payment of £5,735 per annum pro rata).

The post holders will work across the children's medical teams including Paediatrics and Psychiatrists in CAMHS.

Ensuring that the child and family are greeted at time of arrival to the Child & Family Centre, and completing baseline observations. These will include weight, height, head circumference, as well as blood pressure where appropriate. The postholder will be trained to complete ECG recordings when needed.

Ensure clinics are run timely and that parents and children are advised of any delays. Or the clinician advised of any delays. To ensure clinical rooms are stocked appropriately and that they meet Trust policies in terms of infection control.

To maintain confidentiality at all times but to seek advice if there are safeguarding concerns.
