The Governing Body at Ysgol Cynefin are looking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic and flexible individual to a busy new special school site. We are looking for a highly motivated candidate who can demonstrate well developed practical, organisational and communication skills with the ability to work independently to deal with work pressures. The ability to foster good working relationships with all stakeholders is essential.
Ysgol Cynefin is a growing special school for primary aged pupils who have statements for Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties (BESD). The school is currently based in Llanishen but will be moving to two, purpose-built sites in Fairwater and Llanrumney. This Estates Manager role will be based Ysgol Cynefin East (Llanrumney).
The estates manager will work with the building contractors to become familiar with the new site and operation of systems within it. They will help us ensure the teaching and learning environment for our staff and pupils is safe, secure and maintained to a high standard.
The estates manager will be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the site, with duties including carrying out regular checks e.g. weekly testing of fire alarms, regular/weekly health and safety checks as well as acting as site manager during working hours and as a keyholder for the school grounds. Ysgol Cynefin will include community use areas that will be available for single hire or long-term lettings. These areas would be available for the community to book during evenings, weekends and holidays. (See appendix).
The successful candidate will have experience of working as a site manager/caretaker with skills necessary for maintaining high standards.
The successful candidate will have a clear vision of how to work independently, work as part of a team and be proactive in contributing to the distinct school ethos.
The site manager will play a key role in ensuring the Health and Safety requirements of the site are met.
We can offer training, a friendly and positive team, and a supportive school community.
You will be responsible for the management and supervision during all hire and letting on the premises:
• Hire of premises applications.
• Ensure, insurance and DBS information associated with each user is checked.
• Undertake induction of site users. (Fire evacuation, lockdown and welfare)
• Manage the school’s access control, CCTV and alarm systems associated with the hire of the premises
