Job OverviewReporting to the Bid Excellence Director, the Bid Writing Lead will be responsible for the management, mentoring and coaching of Bid Writers within the Bid Excellence team, to ensure the development of high-quality content for bids and proposals, with a focus on continuous improvement in bid quality. This will involve both day-to-day line management of Bid Writers, and the oversight and review of bids that are produced by the team.
This is a networked role that requires an ability to work under pressure and to challenging deadlines.
Main Duties
-Provide team leadership and oversight for Senior Bid Writers and Bid Writers
-Ensure all team members are clear on their roles, responsibilities, and deliverables. Monitor individuals' progress and performance and intervene/manage as necessary to maintain the planned progress of the written content of the bid allocated to their team
-Maintain an understanding of workload within the bid writing team, including clear and current knowledge of the key details of each in-flight opportunity
-Support the Bid Excellence Director in continuing to review and improve bid development practices across Mitie to build further upon the quality of bids produced by the bid team
-Provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to support bid team members to deliver the highest possible quality of bids, with a specific focus on continuously improving the quality of bid writing produced by the team
-Lead the bid team in the implementation of all necessary bid procedures and processes in line with Mitie methodology and ensure they follow appropriate governance
-Work closely and collaboratively with all bid stakeholders, and primarily the Solutions Director and wider sales team, to ensure that each bid produced by the team is a compelling high-quality submission capable of winning
-Conduct detailed quality reviews to make sure bids are appropriately compelling and commercially attractive and capable of winning
-Work alongside other senior bid team colleagues in effective management of team resources and capacity
-Maintain up to date knowledge of the current market and the collation and organisation of supporting materials
-Proactively produce written content for major or strategic bid opportunities identified by the division, working as part of the core/allocated bid team to do so
What we are looking for
-Minimum of 3 years' experience in bid writing and bid management, preferably including experience within the FM sector
-Previous experience of line management and leading a team
-Strong written English language skills, demonstrated through a depth of bid writing experience
-Skilled in providing feedback and coaching to bid writers and others involved in developing written bidcontent
-Ability to manage multiple projects and working to deadlines
-Ability to communicate and influence stakeholders up to senior level
-Strong presentation skills with ability to adapt styles to the audience and outcomes
-Ability to prioritise, demonstrating excellent organisational and time management skills
-Have a can-do attitude, able to work with limited supervision under pressure and to tight deadlines
-Certified to APMP Foundation level (desirable)
